There are more than 100 volcanoes in Chile spread all over the country from North to South. Many of them perfectly suit for skitouring and ski-mountaineering, but it will take you several seasons to ski all of them. We’ve used our experience to chose the most interesting peaks, and offer you to leave your line on them.
Besides skiing and snowboarding, you will get a cultural experience, visit local vineyards, discover delicious cuisine, and much more.

Dates (dates of arrival to Santiago and departure from): September 6-16

Day 1: Arriving to Santiago, excursion in the city, rest time.
Day 2: Flying to Temuco, the capital of Araucania region (or alternatively driving by car from Santiago, whole day).
Days 3-9: Skitouring and excursions.
Day 10: Departing from Temuco to Santiago.

Skiing and skitouring
The idea is to follow the snow and weather and move from one place to another according to the forecasts, without losing the time. We plan to ski 4-5 volcanoes – Lonquimay (2865m), Osorno (2652m), Puntiagudo (2493m) and Villarica (2860m). Also, it is possible to make a 2-days ascension on Lanin (3776m) – one of the most beautiful volcanoes in the region. The slopes of volcanoes are from 25 to 40 degrees steep, on some parts you may need a ski-mountaineering equipment. The snow conditions can vary from powder to corn snow.

To get a choice of skitouring destinations depending on weather and snow conditions, we will not book accommodation in advance. According to our experience, it is easy to find a hotel or cabanas (guest house) few days before coming.
