Early season catskiing in Siberia

posted in: Siberia

This year, along with our local partners from Krasnoyarsk city, we started brand new snowcat skiing operations in Siberia.

Our lodge is situated in Priiskovoe village on the North of the Kuznetskiy Alatau range. The village stays at 800 meters altitude, surrounded by mountains 1500-1700 meters high. For many years this village and area around was a place of gold mines, and gold rush stopped only in 1996. Miners left the system of roads in the mountains, which appears pretty useful for snowcat skiing. Also, this region is the first to meet the cold Arctic air mass, which helps to create snowfalls in Siberian mountains. When other parts of Kuznetskiy Alatau range are still warm and rainy, Priiskovoe, due to its specific location, is already cold and covered with snow. The winter starts in September, and in some years the skiing season starts in the end of October; by November powder skiing is 100% guaranteed.

And here are the first impressions from November and December. As you can see, it is not only about powder skiing, but also amazing northern scenery with breathtaking sunsets. Operations will run until May, and we keep posting powderskiing pictures. By the way, booking for the next season is already open, check it out.
